Bedroom Pop, performance and installation, April 27-May 16, 2018

Bedroom Pop explores trauma and grief through the lens of the teenage bedroom. Missing a bed, a rug, or any of the usual accoutrements of a bedroom space, the installation exists as a series of stages, a place to try on identities and ideas. Through the six durational performances I enacted in Bedroom Pop, I sought to access heightened emotional states by pushing my body and my voice to their limits. I sang emo songs on repeat and jumped around to the point of exhaustion, performing as if acting like a rock star could make me become one.
